How is kratzend played?
Create an audible scratch or scrape in the part of the sound indicated by the local context. On strings that may involve friction at the bow–string contact, but the word itself does not prescribe a universal bow pressure, contact point, dynamic or instrument. Decide from the score whether the scratch belongs mainly to the attack, continues through the sound or colours a broader gesture.
How does kratzend sound?
scratchy, noise-coloured sound
In context
German usage identifies kratzend with scratching or scraping, while timbre research treats scrape and bow friction as possible noise components within a complex sound. The instruction therefore names an audible character, not one fixed mechanism. No proposed abbreviation met the three-source direct-expansion rule.
