Repeat sign, start
A start-repeat barline marks where a repeated passage begins. When the matching end-repeat is reached, return here; if the passage begins with the piece, the opening sign may be omitted.

Do not confuse it with
Its dots face into the following music; an end-repeat has dots facing back into the preceding music.
