Half-closed hole
A half-filled hole in a wind fingering diagram calls for partial covering or opening of that tone hole. The filled side and exact proportion can matter, so follow the chart's legend and instrument-specific instructions.

Do not confuse it with
Fully filled and empty symbols mean closed and open; the half-filled symbol specifies an intermediate fingering.
