Dot after a note (augmentation dot)

An augmentation dot after a note or rest adds half of that note or rest's original duration. Each further dot adds half the value of the preceding dot.

Do not confuse it with

An augmentation dot is to the right of a notehead or rest; a staccato dot is above or below a notehead.
