In 2021, Fladmoses Akademi appeared at KLANG in KU.BE.
The programme included works by Jonas Wiinblad Schmidt and Lukas Sixhøj Poulsen, Pelle Nyhuus, Bettina and Laura Dayani, alongside my own Ricercar à 6.
The works included Improvisation i reb, Ensembleværk for komponister, D.A.D.D.Y.S. R.8., Kommunen tog mine penge, Zwei Bläser: Meditation, Af krop og ånd and Ricercar à 6. All were listed as premieres in the KODA correspondence with KLANG.
My own contribution, Ricercar à 6, was not a historical ricercar exercise, but an open work with a score, built around improvisational sections and inspired by Lutosławski’s controlled aleatory procedures. In that sense it belonged naturally in a programme where the students were also working with notation, improvisation, performance, electronics, ensemble responsibility and stage situation.
