At KLANG Festival 2020, Fladmoses Akademi presented a large programme at KU.BE.
The afternoon included Aske Kai Tengberg’s installation Ciclo Secco as an optakt to the concert, followed by a programme of young composers’ works. The KODA list for the concert includes Enken, Fåretællinger, Jætternes Hjem I–III, Viva la Revolution, Den strangulerede konges beretninger, Ibis, Aases vise, Fuga i F-dur for strygertrio, Scherzo – for strygerkvartet og fagot, The Line and Canon on D.
The project brought together very different ages and levels. Malina Tulstrup was only 10 and wrote Fåretællinger. Leon Thomsen, 13, presented Jætternes Hjem, his first work: a string quartet inspired by Jotunheimen in Norway. Julius Hartung wrote a fugue for string trio. Bhavana Charugalla wrote for string quartet, bassoon, percussion and contralto.
This was a serious public frame for very young composers. The students met real performers, a festival situation, rehearsal pressure, stage logistics and the experience of hearing fragile musical ideas become actual sound in a room.
